Before you book a train to Prague, a hotel for the first night and a week off work, you want one number. Here it is. Well, twelve of them 🙂 Every dark retreat in our five cabins near Kutná Hora, about an hour from Prague, is priced in euros, and the prices are final – we are not VAT registered, so nothing gets added on top.
Dark retreat prices for one night, three nights and a week

The prices are for the whole stay, not per night. In a week, one night works out at €68 and meals add €17 a day. “Couple” means two people sharing the Cabin of Love, the one with the double bed. Two friends who would each rather have their own darkness simply book two cabins.
About 80 % of people who come to us choose the week, and that number is not marketing. Of those who start with three nights, most tell us afterwards it was too short. Longer stays are multiples of a week – write to us and we will put it together.
What you get for the money
- A cabin to yourself for the whole stay – total darkness, a wooden bed 200 × 90 cm, your own shower and toilet, quiet ventilation and heating or cooling, so the only footsteps in your night are your own.
- Clean bedding, pillow and duvet, so you don’t have to carry a sleeping bag across half of Europe.
- With meals: vegetarian food for the whole day, which we bring to the small entrance hall of your cabin. You collect it without a single ray of light getting in.
- A kettle, a mat and a meditation cushion, plus earplugs or ear defenders on loan if the village rooster gets on your nerves.
- Tom & Lenka living 50 metres away, so there is always someone nearby who has done this with more than 3,000 people since 2013.
- Free parking at our place and, if you ask, a free lift from the station in Kutná Hora, Čáslav or Bykáň – one less thing to organise after a long journey.
What is not in the price
- Your journey to the Czech Republic and on to Kutná Hora – by train, car or plane. How to get here step by step is on Dark retreat near Prague.
- A hotel in Prague or Kutná Hora before or after your stay. Plenty of people add a night or two to see the city; that is a separate service you book yourself.
- Extras on site, such as a massage or a sauna. Ask us when you book or when you arrive and we will tell you what is possible and what it costs.
How paying works
- You send a booking through the form on Book. It is non-binding and nothing is charged.
- If the date is free, we email you a contract and the payment details.
- You pay the deposit within 5 days. From that moment the date is yours.
- The rest is due no later than 30 days before you arrive. If you would rather pay in instalments, tell us and we will agree on a schedule.
You pay in euros, by SEPA bank transfer, PayPal or Wise. The Czech Republic uses crowns (CZK), but you don’t need to change any money for your stay with us – keep the crowns for coffee and cake in Kutná Hora.
If your plans change
- Moving your date 31 or more days before arrival is free, once.
- Cancelling 31 or more days before arrival costs 10 % of the price.
- Less than 31 days before arrival the full price applies. If someone else takes your place, you can choose another date or get your money back minus 10 %.
- Protection for the unexpected: for a surcharge you can add cover against sudden events, and a cancellation then only ever costs 10 %.
Honestly, we don’t love rules like these either. But with five cabins, a week cancelled a few days ahead is very hard to fill, and that is the whole reason they exist.
Last minute
Now and then a date frees up shortly before arrival and we offer it for less. It doesn’t happen often and we can’t predict it. If your travel plans are flexible, keep an eye on the available dates or just write to us.

P.S. The darkness itself is free. What you pay for is a cabin that keeps it perfectly dark, food that arrives without you lifting a finger, and two people who keep an eye on you while you do nothing at all 🙂
